About Maggie’s

Maggie’s centres provide a safe space of calmness amongst the chaos that a cancer diagnosis can bring. We offer practical, psychological and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, free of charge.

Our focus is offering support to people with cancer, without a referral, with things that really make a difference, such as financial worries, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as the side-effect of treatment and much more. Everyone needs something different to help them cope and understanding each person’s individual circumstances is central to what we do. We help people with cancer to navigate a way through, so that life can feel more manageable.

Cancer can turn life upside down, not only for the person living with it, but also for their friends and family. That’s why we’re here, to offer support to them as well.

Why support Maggie’s?

1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime, with around 420,000 new diagnoses each year in the UK.

As NHS staff face increasing pressure and cancer diagnoses continue to rise, Maggie’s remains a vital partner, strengthening our work with the NHS to ensure people get the best possible support. Where a Maggie’s centre sits alongside an NHS cancer hospital, we save the NHS £11 million a year and £440,000 per NHS Trust, while also freeing up staff time by helping people navigate appointments, treatment and the emotional impact of cancer. Everyone’s needs are different, so we work one‑to‑one with each person to help make life feel more manageable.

The urgency and scale of cancer support needed in the UK has never been greater, and without the generosity of our community, we simply could not be there for people with cancer and those who love them. With your support, we can continue to be the home of cancer care for all.
