Based in Wrexham, the Rainbow Foundation is an active ageing charity that delivers outstanding services to improve the health and wellbeing of their local communities. They aim to help older people to regain their sense of worth, and to provide access to support, services and facilities that empower people of all ages to retain as much independence as possible. The Foundation offers a range of interventions including a Day Opportunities service which provides social engagement for the elderly and a Home Care service which delivers support in the home. Their Rainbow Meals provides healthy, nutritious, and affordable meals to people at home while their Community Transport provides a vital service which allows people to retain a level of independence which would otherwise be out of reach.
It is not just the elderly that The Rainbow Foundation supports though, as their community outreach work provides free information, support, and advice for the over 50’s in their local communities. A Social Prescribing service also works with GPs across the whole of Wrexham to support anyone over 18. Part of which includes social and support groups which take place at one of their three hubs in Penley, Marchwiel and Chirk and in local community spaces. Volunteer opportunities are also available within the charity and provide a vital service in local communities.
The Rainbow Foundation, Wrexham was named Overall Winner of 2023’s GSK Impact Awards in partnership with the Kings Fund for its outstanding work offering health, care, and wellbeing services to older people in rural communities across Wrexham and North Shropshire.
