St Kentigern Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, completely free of charge, for adults across north east Wales. Taking in Colwyn Bay in the west along the coast to Flint in the east and inland encompassing, Ruthin, Denbigh and all underlying villages. Services include an 8 patient unit, Day Therapy available for up to 15 patients, Bereavement support and Complimentary therapies. In 2016 cost more than £1.4 million to run the Hospice which equates to more than £3800 per day. Just 18% of this will come from the Local Health Board, which is enough funding to support the Hospice for just 66 days. The Hospice therefore relies heavily on on the generosity of the communities it serves in North East Wales helping to raise the additional funding for the remaining 299 days of the year.
